Snowman Crochet Pattern

Last week I published my super easy christmas tree pattern, now I am sharing the snowman's pattern to inspire you for more holiday crochet. It is still simple and enough quick to complete a few until Christmas!

Materials

-mercerized cotton yarn (For Mr. Snow: white, orange, black, brown, blue. For Mrs. Snow: -white, orange, black, pink, red)
-crochet hook E/3.5mm

-small safety eyes or beads 
-tapestry needle
-filling 

Gauge is not important. Use any yarn with the correct hook. 

Abbreviations:

fhdc foundation half double crochet

hdc half double crochet

sc single crochet

sc2tog single crochet two together

st stitch

{} number of stitches 

PATTERN

Body
Worked in the round.

R1  Magic ring. Sc 6 in the ring. {6}

R2  *2 sc in ea st around* {12}

R3  *2sc, sc in next* repeat {18}

R4  *2sc, sc in next 2 st's* {24}

R5  *2sc, sc in next 3 st's* {30}

R6-14  sc in ea st around {30}

R15  *sc2tog, sc in next 3 st's* {24}

R16  *sc2tog, sc in next 2 st's* {18}

R17  *2sc, sc in next 2 st's* {24}

R18-24  sc in ea st around {24}

R25  *sc2tog, sc in next 2 st's* {18}

R26  *sc2tog, sc in next st* {12}

Fill the body. Fix the safety eyes.

R27  sc2tog around {6} Fasten off and finish the work.

Hat

Worked in the round.
R1  Magic ring. Sc 6 in the ring. {6}

R2  *2 sc in ea st around* {12}

R3  *2sc, sc in next* {18}

R4  *2sc, sc in next 2 st's* {24}

R5  Worked on the back loops. Sc in ea st around. {24}

R6-12  Sc in ea st around {24} For Mrs. Snow crochet just 3 rounds. 

R13  Worked on the front loops. *2sc, sc in next 3 st's* {30}

R14  Sc in ea st around {30}

R15  Sl st around your work. Fasten off and sew the ends.

Hat embellishment
Mr. Snow: With brown yarn fhdc 24, join at the end. Fasten off, sew the belt to the hat.
Mrs. Snow: Wrap a  piece of yarn around the hat and tie a bow. 

Scarf

R1  Fhdc 36. Leave a long tail. 

R2  Change color. [Or use the same color.] Leave a long tail, instert your hook to the first st. Ch2 to the first st,  and hdc along. Fasten off and leave a long tail.

Carrot nose

Ch4. Ch1 and turn. 

R1-3  Sc in ea st. Ch1 and turn.{4}

Fold over and sl st the sides together. Leave a long tail for sewing.

   

Assembly

1. Sew on the nose to the face. 
2. If you are using beads, like I did, attach the eyes. To learn about how to find the right position of the eyes see this useful post. 
3. Embroider a mouth with chain stitches.
4. Attach the scarf.
5. Lightly stuff the hat with the filling and sew on.
